Facebook recently changed how brand pages will appear in user feeds. Essentially… less often. This article provides a nice summary but two main take-aways are:
1) Facebook is driving towards revenue by charging companies more to promote their pages. Can’t really blame them for this. Brands may be upset but from the consumer side… That works.
2) Facebook is forcing brands to be more engaging. Users have to opt in to receive all branded postings. This is key. Facebook is forcing brands to stop using social media as a traditional marketing channel. Personally, I applaud the effort.
